“Shalwar kameez” is a South Asian dress also known as ‘Salwar Kameez’ or ‘Shalwar Qameez”. “Shalwar Kameez” is mostly worn in Pakistan or India. Shalwar Kameez can be made of pretty much any fabric but chiffon, cotton or silk are most commonly used.
Shalwar is usually wide that uses drawstring as belt to hold. Top of shalwar is covered with Kameez as Kameez is usually long. In today’s fashion Shalwar are becoming more like pants but still the top is covered by Kameez. These new type of shalwar is called trouser or Capri. Modern ladies tend to have length of their capris 4-6 inches shorter from ankle.

Light embroidery is often used on the chest and bottom front of kameez but not too heavy. Mostly hand embroidery is preferred but machine work on Shalwar Kameez is just as good these days.
For large gathering heavy sequence work that is done by hand or heavy embroidery is used on Kameez (front and back). Heavy work on borders of dupetta is also used and worn with Shalwar Kamez. These types of shalwar kameez are worn in marriage ceremonies.
